Philippe Clement has altered his Norwich City starting eleven with three new players for the Saturday Championship game at Charlton Athletic. Harry Darling is back in defense, making his first start since a cup game, taking the place of Jose Cordoba.

Paris Maghoma moves into the midfield instead of Anis Ben Slimane, who is not in the squad. In attack, Mathias Kvistgaarden starts ahead of Jovon Makama. Daniel Grimshaw remains the goalkeeper.

Clement on McLean minutes

Kenny McLean is back in the squad after missing games with an ankle issue. The midfielder is on the bench, with Clement stating his condition is being monitored. The manager said the player would not be ready for a full match.

There is more good news among the substitutes, as goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic returns from a concussion absence and winger Anthony Musaba is back after being ill. Young striker Ante Crnac is also a substitute, though Clement mentioned he is not fully fit for a league start yet after playing for the youth team.

Injury update

Clement gave news on several injured players. Mirko Topic, who is recovering from a serious knee injury, has played for the development side and is nearing a return. Papa Amadou Diallo, dealing with thigh trouble, should be back soon after seeing a specialist.

The update on Gabe Forsyth is partly good. He had a small problem in his recovery from a knee injury, but a scan showed nothing serious. Mo Toure, who has scored several goals this season, has had an operation on his shoulder and aims to return around January. Ali Ahmed is still out with a knee injury and is likely to miss much of the season.

Lucien Mahovo and Errol Mundle-Smith, who were substitutes recently, are not in the squad.

The team changes happen with Norwich near the bottom of the league table, having earned few points from their first games. Their recent performances include only one victory in several matches, during which they have been letting in many goals. They play a Charlton team in the middle of the table, who have lost several league games in a row. Charlton last played at home and lost.

Norwich City substitutes: Kovacevic (GK), Yongwa, Fisher, Field, McLean, Crnac, Makama, Cordoba, Musaba.

Charlton Athletic start with Okonkwo in goal, a back four of Ramsey, Jones, Koumetio and Edwards, a midfield of Coventry, Rankin-Costello and Campbell, and an attacking trio of Carey, Grant and Kelman.
