Norwich City are tipped to be Championship contenders this season, according to Tony Pulis. The former manager believes Philippe Clement has the tools to mount a promotion challenge, following a strong finish to the 2024-25 campaign. Clement transformed fortunes at Carrow Road last term, inheriting a squad bereft of confidence and sitting 23rd in the Championship in mid-November. A 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Birmingham City in his first game at the helm was followed by a run of nine wins in 11 games, sparking renewed optimism around Norfolk and beyond. Summer additions Andre Brooks, Bruno Alves, Darling Yongwa, and the permanent return of Sam Field have further strengthened the squad. Pulis, who announced his retirement from football management in 2023, has tasted promotion success twice as a manager, with Gillingham and Stoke City. However, he has suffered play-off heartbreak in both of his attempts. With the play-offs expanding from four teams to six this season, Pulis feels it will give more clubs the opportunity to achieve something special. The Championship, as always, is going to be so unpredictable, with some team from somewhere that was not expected to do well could just fly, get promoted, and reach the land of sugar and gold. League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 9th in Championship, 65 pts, 19W-8D-19L from 46 games, recent form LDWWL. Goals this season: 63 scored, 56 conceded (+7 goal difference). Title race: 30 points behind leaders Coventry. Currently sidelined: Mirko Topić.
