Norwich City goalkeeper Louie Moulden has joined League Two side Accrington Stanley on a season-long loan. The Canaries stopper was third-choice behind Vladan Kovacevic and Dan Grimshaw last season, but has now opted to pursue consistent game time.
What happened?
Moulden joined City on a free transfer from Premier League side Crystal Palace last summer as part of a wider revamp to their goalkeeping department. It's believed Norwich will now enter the market for a replacement and is an admirer of Palermo keeper Sebastiano Desplanches.
Why it matters for Norwich City
Key to Moulden's move to the Wham Stadium will see him link up with ex-Norwich goalkeeper Matt Gilks, who will coach him during his campaign in Lancashire. "I am off the back of a couple of years inactivity, but I am raring to go - my family were keen for me to get back playing, my dad used to play for Accrington Stanley, and I had the experience of playing here on trial under John Coleman, so it got me excited," Moulden said.
What comes next?
Other League Two clubs, namely newly promoted duo Rochdale and York, were also keen to add Moulden to their ranks, but Accrington boss John Doolan is delighted to have won the race for his signature. As of 30 Jun 2026, Norwich City sits 9th in the Championship with 65 points from 46 games, having scored 63 goals and conceded 56, resulting in a +7 goal difference. The Canaries are 30 points behind leaders Coventry.
