Norwich City's Championship play-off ambitions ended with a 2-1 defeat to Hull City. Oli McBurnie's double cancelled out Mohamed Toure's opener, securing Hull's sixth-place finish.
Norwich City's hopes of securing a Championship play-off spot were dashed on an emotional afternoon at the MKM Stadium as they fell to a 2-1 defeat against Hull City. The Canaries initially took the lead but ultimately couldn't hold on, allowing the Tigers to clinch the final play-off position.
The match saw Mohamed Toure open the scoring for Norwich City in the 26th minute, netting his tenth goal of the season for the club. This early lead put the Canaries in a strong position, seemingly on track for a crucial victory.
However, Hull City, spurred on by their home support, quickly responded. Oli McBurnie levelled the score from the penalty spot just two minutes later, shifting the momentum of the game.
McBurnie then completed his brace midway through the second half, scoring his 18th goal of the season to give Hull City a 2-1 lead. This goal proved decisive, marking Hull's first win in seven games and securing their sixth-place finish in the Championship table.
For Norwich City, the loss means their Championship season concludes without a play-off berth. Meanwhile, Hull City's dramatic comeback ensures they will now face third-placed Millwall in a two-legged play-off semi-final, with a place in the Wembley final at stake.
