Pelle Mattsson has combined his Norwich City career with completing a financial management degree. The 25-year-old midfielder finished his two-year academy profession while playing for the Championship club.
Mattsson began studying before his move from Silkeborg last year and worked on the course during time away from first-team duties. He even sat his final exam in the team hotel ahead of last month's Carabao Cup win at Cardiff City. He has since started a postgraduate diploma in global football sport directorship.
"We're not only footballers, we're also human beings," Mattsson said. "I want to show you can do that as a footballer, it's not impossible. You can still achieve things outside football."
He described the process as an important part of his life, a way to learn new things and spend his time wisely. The graduation brought a feeling of pride after having to dig deep at times to finish the work.
Mattsson has made 44 appearances for Norwich since his arrival, contributing as the team handles a challenging season. The Canaries currently sit 17th in the Championship table with nine points from eight games, having lost their last three matches. Their most recent result was a 3-4 defeat at home to Bolton.
His academic commitment comes as Norwich look to improve their form, with top scorer Mohamed Touré having netted five times so far. The midfielder's achievement is a clear example of career planning beyond the pitch.
