Norwich City's Przemyslaw Placheta has signed with Austin FC in the MLS. The Polish winger agreed to the deal in March and has now linked up with his new teammates.

What happened?

Placheta joined Norwich City in 2020 from Slask Wroclaw, making 26 appearances during their 2020-21 EFL Championship-winning campaign. He went on to play 12 times in the Premier League the following season. A loan spell at Birmingham City followed in July 2022, but injury cut his time short.

Why it matters for Norwich City

The Canaries are currently 9th in the Championship, with 65 points from 46 games, and a recent form of LDWWL. They have scored 63 goals this season, conceding 56, and are 30 points behind leaders Coventry. Placheta's move to the MLS offers him a chance to reset and establish himself in a new environment.

What comes next?

Placheta is set to make his debut for Austin FC on July 22 against Seattle. He told club channels, "I'm really excited to begin a new chapter of my career in Austin." The winger hopes to use his experience in English football to help the team make a push in the second half of the season. Austin FC have endured an inconsistent campaign, and Placheta's speed and experience are viewed as assets as they look to improve their standing in the Western Conference.
