Norwich City's Ambitious 2026/27 Season Plans
Norwich City are heading for an exciting 2026/27 campaign as Philippe Clement prepares for his first full season in charge at Carrow Road. The Canaries were in a perilous position when Clement took over last season, but he guided them from relegation danger to a 9th place finish, eight points off the Championship play-offs.
What's Next for Norwich City?
There's no hiding that ambitions are lofty at Carrow Road. Owner Mark Attanasio has made that clear, stating earlier this summer that the club are targeting promotion, and they want to avoid the lottery of the play-offs altogether. In a bid to do so, three players have signed to date: Andre Brooks, Sam Field, and Bruno Alves. More business awaits, but Norwich City will be keeping an eye on their player contract situations as well.
When Do Norwich City Players' Contracts Expire?
As it stands, Norwich City have one of the Championship's bigger squads. That is likely to change as the transfer window progresses, with fringe players and youngsters expected to find opportunities elsewhere. But, with an eye on the long-term, the Canaries look to be in a good position over their contracts.
Norwich City's Contract Situation
NCFC players under contract until 2027 include Jack Stacey, Vicente Reyes, and Bruno Alves (loan with option to buy). NCFC players under contract until 2028 include Kenny McLean, Daniel Grimshaw, Harry Darling, Jakov Medic, Anis Ben Slimane, Ante Crnac, Pelle Mattsson, Amankwah Forson, Ben Chrisene, Jose Cordoba, Liam Gibbs, Oscar Schwartau, Jovon Makama, Kellen Fisher, Gabe Forsyth, and Lucien Mahovo. NCFC players under contract until 2029 include Sam Field, Vladan Kovacevic, Paris Maghoma, Mathias Kvistgaarden, Mirko Topic, Jacob Wright, Ali Ahmed, and Papa Amadou Diallo. NCFC players under contract until 2030 include Ruairi McConville, Matej Jurasek, and Mohamed Toure. NCFC players under contract until 2031 include Errol Mundle-Smith.
A Busy Year Ahead for Norwich City
Norwich City aren't snowed under with pressing matters to address ahead of 2027 expiries. However, the number of players who see their deals run out in 2028 means that they will likely look to get started on those deals early. Some will depart, but others are key men who the Canaries will intend to hold onto. Perhaps most notably, it remains to be seen just what position club captain Kenny McLean is in. The Scot is coming off the back of an excellent campaign and is primed for a key role alongside Pelle Mattsson once more. But, there is a growing feeling that City need to be prepared for the day he either leaves or retires.
