Norwich City manager Philippe Clement has stressed the importance of their upcoming training camp as the Canaries ramp up preparations for the Championship run-in. The team, currently sitting 9th with 65 points from 46 games (19W-8D-19L), will face AFC Wimbledon in a friendly on Wednesday before a behind-closed-doors test against Premier League side Fulham.
What’s the focus of the training camp?
Clement revealed the six-day camp will include intensive individual meetings with players, team activities, and tactical discussions. "Every evening, we’ll have 30-45 minute talks with each player," he said. "We’ll discuss last season’s performance, set goals for the new campaign, and strengthen bonds within the group." The squad has been bolstered by the return of World Cup trio José Cordoba, Kenny McLean, and Anis Ben Slimane, though they won’t feature against Wimbledon.
How are young talents progressing?
The manager praised the development of academy prospects Zach Baumann, Vatan Ozcan, and Dylan Jones, who impressed in a recent 3-0 win over St Gallen. "They’re eager to wear the shirt and work hard," Clement noted. "Facing aggressive opponents like St Gallen was a great learning experience for them." Jovon Makama and Papa Diallo are also expected to rejoin training soon.
What’s next for Norwich City?
With 63 goals scored and 56 conceded this season (+7 goal difference), City are 30 points behind leaders Coventry but remain focused on securing a strong finish. The training camp aims to fine-tune their approach ahead of the final Championship stretch, with Clement emphasizing both physical and mental preparation.
The Canaries will look to build on their recent form (LDWWL) as they push for a top-half finish in the Championship.
